The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the UK government states that:

"With few exceptions, visitors to the UK are not entitled to free medical treatment. A charge will be made for any treatment received. Visitors should therefore ensure that they have sufficient medical insurance to cover their stay". The UKTA cannot accept any responsibility for delegate costs or liabilities arising from personal accidents, ill health, optical or dental requirements, etc. Therefore, before entering the UK delegates must ensure they have appropriate personal insurance to cover such events.
