Message from the Chairman

Since its creation in 1995, UKTA has strived to meet the needs of Operators and Regulators throughout the Developing World.

In the current financial climate we have as have many other organisations had to do alter our focus considerably since our creation and, now with our academic partners and Associate Members, are providing a comprehensive portfolio of Master’s Degrees both in the UK and abroad.

From January 2010 we will be offering the MCM by Blended Learning with our new associate Bucks New University. The seminars associated with the programme will be delivered at Great Missenden Abbey in January, April, July and September. By 2011 we hope with Cisco to be able to reach by HD Internet a number of Strategic Partners in Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe and the Americas.

Talking to the Secretary General of the ITU in Kigali recently the UKTA was encouraged to carry on with its exhaustive programme for a further five years.

UKTA continues to support its sister organisation USTTI and its Chairman Mickey Gardner was very complimentary of our work in Rwanda when he visited Africa earlier this year.

Our LLM in IT &T is already up and running at the Open University of Tanzania and this is another programme we hope to include in the blended learning initiative.

Our team of UKTA Professors with over one hundred years of collective experience have been called upon this year to deliver papers in China, Tanzania, Rwanda, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Trinidad and USA.

Finally, I look forward to welcoming you when we meet either virtually or physically when you participate on one or more of our many courses and events.
